Snow Leopard Compatibility Update
August 26th, 2009Update. Cyberduck 3.3 has been released.
The new cat will be let out of the bag next month earlier than anticipated. Cyberduck is getting ready. Lot of work has been put into Snow Leopard compatibility recently with a shift to Rococoa instead of the deprecated bindings used before. Thanks to Duncan McGregor and the Rococoa community for their work which serves as the new solid foundation for Cyberduck to build upon.
Please test the latest beta release to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Be sure to report any rough edges you may find.
The beta currently has the following limitations:
No MobileMe bookmark synchronization when running as 64bit application. Use the Finder Info panel to select Open in 32-bit mode for the Cyberduck.app application bundle if you need this feature.- No AppleScript support beside basic Open URL events from third party applications like web browsers.
- No Dashboard Widget whatsoever as this uses the AppleScript interface.
The current beta requires an Intel processor and Mac OS X 10.5 or later. Progress is tracked in ticket #3039.

What can I do if I already installed Snow Leopard (SL). In the beta file it says I have to install the update BEFORE installing SL. Shold I install it anyway?

This warning is targeted to users running 3.2.1 which will no longer start on SL. However the beta is not yet advertised in the stable update channel which makes it somewhat useless for now.

I grabbed Snow Leopard right away when I heard about all the pros to it… then I installed it and found a couple issues including Cyberduck not loading… I came to the site and found that you had already created a version for Snow Leopard users and was quite impressed. Thanks for the beautiful program.

Thanks for your program. I use it all the time. After the update to snow leopard, the duck wouldn’t even open. You were / are on top of it and continue to be impressed by cyberduck.

Thx for getting Cyberduck ready for Snow Leopard! Just wanted to tell a minor bug I experienced so far, while trying to select the 3rd Party Editor option right from the menu, the app freezes (at least the menu).
BTW what about the quicklook feature? When will it work as well in SL?
best regards and keepup your great work.

Like others I installed Snow Leopard only to discover Cyberduck wouldn’t start. I was super pleased to to arrive at your site and see a shiny new version waiting for me to download and install. Keep up the great work.

The 3.3beta for Snow Leopard can not run in Applications/Apps folder, it can run on Applications, or Desktop, but not inside folder of Applications, I am not test other folder, but I think this is strange.

Is the fact that the 3.3b1 drops AppleScript something of a design decision on the developers side, or has it something to do with Snow Leopard?
I’m not using AppleScript a lot, in fact I rather use bash/Terminal. But then, when I need it, I’ve enjoyed CyberDucks integration with AppleScript. It also makes it a more “Mac-like” program, in my eyes, so I would be sad if AppleScript would not be supported anymore.

AppleScript is to be reintroduced in version 3.4 if possible. It was removed due to issues with the migration to Rococoa.

Sorry to answer so late. I was on the road but wanted to let you know that I am happy AppleScript comes back…
I appreciate the effort you put into you, although it is maybe not the most important feature for the largest part of your user base. Thank you!
